Project: Whitworth Street, Manchester

Client: Fallons

Connolly Scaffolding has been contracted to provide scaffolding on a four-storey building demolition project for Fallons. Located on Whitworth Street in Deansgate, Manchester City Centre, the site, will be home to a new 37-storey tower.

This project was scheduled to run from September to October 2016. The scaffolding is a mix of platac, with tube and fitting at the bull nose end of the building.

There were a number of unique challenges that needed to be addressed. For example, the building is in close proximity to live rails, meaning that both Connolly’s and Fallon’s teams needed to work alongside Network Rail, often working through the night when the live rails can be switched off, mitigating risk of injury or damage to network rail infrastructure.

As the project progresses and structural changes and weaknesses developed due to the building’s structure and condition, Connolly’s have been able to accommodate a revised demolition plan.
